Set up a home workplace? Here you have to pay attention!

Also in the first quarter of 2021 we are still dependent on working from work as much as possible. Many people have been working at their dining table since the start of the Corona, but a fully furnished home workplace is increasingly being chosen. Some employers provide such an establishment, but often it is also the responsibility of the employee. But how do you set up a home workplace, what furniture do you need to work at home healthy and ergonomically and which tools can your home work make a little more pleasant?

Agencies to work on at home

A good agency is essential to keep working from home pleasant. It is important that your desk has the right height. If you are sitting on your office chair, your arms must make a 90 -degree angle if you let them rest on your desk and the armrests of your office chair. This way you prevent back and neck complaints and do not tighten too many muscles while working. So you actually want to work from an adjustable desk because it can be adjusted in height. This way you can set your workplace just right.

In addition to adjustable desks, there are also sitting/standing desks. A sitting/standing desk offers the additional advantage that you can change work posture by standing at your desk, so you are not sitting at your desk all day.

No more sitting all day, but occasionally working standing, ensures a good working attitude and prevents a lot of posture related complaints on neck and shoulders.

Working from home: Go for an ergonomic office chair

In addition to a suitable desk, an ergonomic office chair is an important part to pay attention to when you start setting up your home workplace. Your desk and office chair together form the perfect combination to work productively and comfortably at home. When choosing an office chair, the adjustability is again of great importance. The chair must be so adjustable that your legs make an angle of 90 degrees with the ground while your arms stay in the right position. In addition, ergonomic office chairs often offer the possibility to adjust the backrest, armrests and seat to your physique. Through an optimal working attitude you prevent health problems and you remain sharp mentally. An ergonomic office chair usually also meets one of the NEN standards. In the blog: Office chair standards: the NEN 1335 and the NPR 1813 Read more about that.

For the most comfortable home workplace: a footrest, laptop stand and monitor arm

You don't only need a desk and office chair to set up your home workplace. There are always a number of extra things that make your workplace a little more ergonomic and more comfortable. For example, think of a footrest. A footrest ensures a better sitting position and can be the solution if your office chair is just too high, or cannot be set low enough.

Ensure a footrest with a non -slip surface and adjustable angle and height.

You can complete the design of your home workplace with a laptop stand and a separate keyboard. A screen at eye level ensures a natural position of your neck. If you work with a laptop you also need a separate keyboard so that your arms stay in those 90 degrees. With a desktop computer, a monitor arm can be enough. This way you move the screen to the correct height and angle.
